Your Local Environment Needs You!

Let’s work together to keep our rivers clean, healthy, and thriving. Every small action adds up to a big difference!

Save water

Save Water

Conserving water helps maintain river levels and protects aquatic life. Use water wisely.  It is a precious resource! The water you use in your home and garden may not be taken directly from the river, but it is taken from the same source that feeds the river – the groundwater held in the chalk aquifer. Simple steps like fixing leaks and using water-efficient appliances make a real impact, but you can get more ideas from Waterwise and Portsmouth Water .

Water pollution

Avoid Pollution

Keep harmful substances out of drains and gutters - everything from oil to litter can end up in our rivers. Choose eco-friendly products and dispose of waste responsibly.

Report Pollution

If you spot signs of pollution, check out the information on https://www.gov.uk/report-environmental-problem to work out who to contact. If it is serious and urgent, you can still call the Environment Agency hotline on 0800 80 70 60 . Quick reporting helps stop damage before it spreads.

Sprout

Keep Compost & Slurry Away from Rivers

Store compost and slurry well away from watercourses to prevent nutrient overload and contamination. Proper containment protects wildlife and water quality.
